Three suspects-father, step mother and a female Grama Niladhari- who were arrested for allegedly assaulting a 13-year-old girl(suspect’s daughter) in Nikaweratiya, were remanded until January 16, by the Nikaweratiya Magistrate Court today.
It was also revealed that, the arrested father had allegedly assaulted his teenage daughter in several earlier occasions.
Meanwhile, the service of arrested Grama Niladhari in Nikaweratiya, has been suspended on the direction of Minister Janaka Bandara Tennakoon.
A video currently circulation on social media shows a teenage girl being assaulted by two females using a cricket bat.

The face of the mother displayed nothing that was motherly with no compassion at all for the poor child! Punishing a child with brutal force as this, is inhumane!

I hope the Police will teach these maroons taste of their own while they are in detention like what the Andhra Police did in India to rape suspects. How can a father allow this to his own daughter
