Akbar Brothers Ltd. cruised through to the semi final round when they beat John Keells Holdings at the 30th Mercantile Service Basketball Association B division tournament played at Royal indoor stadium on Monday 7th November afternoon.
The match was evenly poised at the first quarter, but Akbar’s lead through in the second quarter to be 15 to 34 in their favour at half time.
In the third quarter, Keells clawed back and put the Akbar boys in foul trouble. However the Darley Road boys held sway, and completed the game with a 50 to 69 win to see them through to the Semi final.
They entered the match on the heels of two very convincing wins against Hatton National Bank and Union Bank with scores of 93 to 42 and 91 to 71 respectively.
The two Semi Finals will be held today (10th Nov) at Royal indoor courts at 5.30pm and 7.30pm.
