The Bambalapitiya Police have launched investigations after an Airman shot himself with a firearm at Fonseka Place in Bambalapitiya.
Police said the deceased is a 38-year-old, Sergeant of the Sri Lanka Air Force and a resident of Abhayapura, Trincomalee.
It has been revealed that the deceased had shot himself by using his duty firearm near a deserted house on a land in Fonseka Place while he was on duty with several other Air Force personnel.
A magisterial inquest has been conducted and the body has been deposited at the National Hospital mortuary in Colombo.
