CNH Coordinator Pushpa Ramyani de Soysa said 413 incidents were reported on April 13 and 14 and that 113 road accident victims were reported during the period -- a 6 % increase when compared with last year.

"Nearly 129 were injured in incidents of falling while 49 were from domestic accidents. They were 15 per cent and 22 per cent increase respectively when compared with last year,” she said.

Meanwhile, 36 cases of violence were reported this year -- 35 per cent decrease. Six people suffering from injuries cause by firecrackers were admitted to hospital whereas last year only one such case was reported," Ms. de Soysa said.

This is why we call it a new year. New year has its benefits each year everything goes up in cost. So we feel proud to have eaten the same foods for more expensive prices. The number of accidents for the new year is also increased by 8% and soon it will be caught up to the cost of living which is increased by 11%
