30 more Indian fishermen arrested

Hours after the arrest of 110 Indian fishermen while poaching in Sri Lankan waters, another group of 30 Indian fishermen were arrested for a similar offence in the northern sea of Sri Lanka, the Navy said.
 
Navy Spokesman Commander Kosala Warnakulasuriya said that Sri Lanka Navy and Sri Lanka Coast Guard on routine patrol arrested 30 Indian fishermen and eight Indian trawlers engaged in illegal fishing in the northern seas of Sri Lanka yesterday. 
 
“They were taken into custody in the Sri Lankan waters approximately 05 nautical miles east of Analathivu. The arrested fishermen were brought to KKS harbour to be handed over to the Assistant DFAR Director in Jaffna for legal action,” the spokesman said.
 
On Wednesday, Naval patrol craft attached to the Eastern Naval Command arrested 110 Indian fishermen and 15 Indian trawlers engaged in illegal fishing in the eastern seas of Sri Lanka
The arrested fishermen were brought to Trincomalee Fisheries Harbour and handed over to the Trincomalee Harbour Police for legal action.
