268 stranded Sri Lankan expatriates return from Dubai

A total of 268 Sri Lankan expatriate workers, who were stranded in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), arrived in the country this morning at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), Katunayake.

They arrived at the BIA onboard a special flight of Srilankan Aniline UL-1510 from Dubai.

They were subjected to PCR tests at the BIA and sent to a government-operated quarantine centre.

Please define 'Stranded'. There are many expatriate workers with valid work visas and also in employment but are still unable to get home even for their annual vacation because of the silly situation prevailing in Sri Lanka. It's not just the mandatory quarantine but most importantly the unreasonable fares being charges by Srilankan Airlines in the absence of other airlines coming in to the country as normal commercial flights.
