Bring back school hours 8 to 4 to reduce Tuition centre’s. Or award 50% of marks to National exam and 50% to school based exam. For school based assessment, Require a Term-Paper based on a Field Observation and reading for science, Math, social studies, history and Tamil Literature subjects in Grade 10 and 11.

More than for other students Tuition has become “ mandatory “ for science students enabling Tuition Masters to demand exorbitant fees for science subjects. A number of students though eligible to choose Science, opt out of A/L Science simply because they can’t afford to do Science. They end up doing Commerce/Arts adding to the overpopulation of Commerce/Arts students in Universities and thereafter to the unemployed/unemployable graduate population in the country. Free Education in SL has turned into FARCE.
