20 female students suspended

Some 20 female students of the Sri Jayawardenapura University have been temporarily suspended yesterday for organizing a protest at the university premises last week, the Jayawardenapura University Students Union (JUSU) said.

JUSU Convener Venerable Kamburugamuwe Gnanessara thera speaking to Daily Mirror Online said that the students had been informed that they were suspended for attempting to create a disturbance among the students in the University. The students have organized a protest before the university premises today to express their objection to the suspensions of the students.

Speaking further Gnanessara thera said that the number of suspended students in the university has now mounted up to 50. (Lakna Paranamanna)
