When in other countries young children strike schools for better climate action or challenge policies that overrule their rights, children in our country (and their parents) take pride in this hooliganism and so-called right of passage. What a sad state of affairs when we think of the future leaders of this country.

Nothing new, this was three from the 50s. The present day rulers have been to village schools?

Sorry to say, it's the rulers from the reputed schools in Colombo who have ruined the Country. Good example RW
THOSE WERE THE DAYS ! ! ! Tuesday, 03 March 2020 11:40 AM
Big match fever ! - During our days, we at Royal were the first (around early 50's) to introduce the cycle parade which commenced from college at 7.30 am. It was the next year following, we introduced the band . If I remember right, the name of the band was "St Rita's band" (used to play at funeral processions) , which was located at Hulftsdorf - opposite the Police Barracks (close to where we lived in Hulftsdorf St.) . With regard to the present incident - there was a time (during those glorious days - when the cops also were more understanding ! ) - a group (from the cycle parade) entered Ladies and kissed the Principal !. The kiss must have been rather "severe" ! , which made Ladies (then) to have a school holiday during the Royal Thominan Match day/s. ! ! . One Royal Thomian days Visaka had a carnival, - after the match the merry go round was available for free rides ! - Finally, it was more a "dansel" at Saraswathie hotel, much to the annoyance of the Manager.

Funny. It is a crime in Sri Lanka for boys entering a girls school?

If they break in to private property and deface the walls and vandalise the school - yes. Sadly this is what most of them now do. No more 'innocent fun'

We saw a bad accident few days back thanks to Big mach fever. The hooligans who are caught must be suspended from the respective schools for a limited time. If that is not going to solve the issue next year expel them from the school/s. Discipline is vital these days. See how the campus students behave. Disgusting
