The Cabinet has approved the proposal to implement a housing program called ’Sonduru Mahal Niwasa’ in a bid to provide affordable permanent housing to low middle income families who are in need of house and living in rented houses.

Although the railway authorities had assured the Transport Minister they will run the trains according to the normal schedule, several trains, including long distance trains were cancelled with immediate effect, the Railways Station Masters’ Union (RSMU) said.
