A 102-year-old woman in Galle had died of COVID-19 yesterday in her house. The victim had tested positive for Covid-19, following a PCR check conducted during the post-mortem at the Karapitiya hospital.
Ruhuna University’s Forensic Medicine Lecturer Dr. U.C.P. Perera said, she would have been the oldest victim of COVID-19, and that she had died after having developed the illness at home.
City Coroner Mahesh Dharmaratne said the body would be cremated at the Public Cemetery subject to quarantine regulations. (SIRANGIKA LOKUKARAVITA)
