A Chilaw Court remanded a UNP member and four others this afternoon over the assault on UNP Puttalam District Parliament Member (MP) elect Palitha Range Bandara till 23 April pending further investigations.
The Chilaw Court remanded the suspects including UNP member Shantha Abeyratna over the assault on Palitha Range Bandara last evening and also for forcibly taking away a weapon of a police constable providing security for the former MP.
Meanwhile the wife of Range Bandara speaking to Daily Mirror online this afternoon said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa has telephoned her and assured the maximum medical attention for her husband who is receiving treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Colombo National hospital.
President Rajapaksa had inquired into the incident and the wellbeing of her husband who suffered injuries to his arm, legs and head and assured medical attention until he fully recovers, she said. (Daily Mirror online)
