very few sadly talk about the disease that is Tharunayata Hetak that is spreading into the uni system. It will be a bigger problem than JVP unions. keep that in mind as well readers.
Dinesh Sunday, 24 October 2010 06:19 AM
Don't be stupid Mr Dissanayake, what ever the students issues are, they have no right to barge into the ministry of higher education and make a racket, and Janaki don't you or can't you understand the basic fact that the IUSF is mobilized by the JVP your anti government rhetoric won't work all the time. How come the university students are making a fuss even when the UNP and UPFA are in power? It's because they are run by the JVP. University students don't mean they are above the law. They should be charged duly and they should not be allowed to study at the universities again.
janaki Sunday, 24 October 2010 01:48 AM
why students are supporting unruly behaviour of the few?
those who support govt. promises them good jobs so it doesn't matter theye complete the degree or not.
university students are adults but most of the rules created by university authorities are there to curb student activities and their mobility
favourations for selected students by university authorities is another problem
many universities are lack of facilities to equip students with good skills
students have a less space for organising activities that will enahnce their acdemic skills or knowledge and instead encouraged to organise 'politically safe activities' such as musical shows.
when students complain their grievences to university authorities, very often actions are not taken and students are angry.
those who are interested in university student's unrest and unruly behaviour should pay attention to these as well!
janaki Sunday, 24 October 2010 01:40 AM
when I read the comments on unruly behaviour of students its alsways JVP that is blamed. this actually keep the attention away from some of the reasons for students to agitate.
first it is true all university students federation is behind organising protests but why the majority of students support it by participating or being silent?
second it is not only JVP is active in mobilsing university students other political parties, including the one at power at present. we have seeing how students were taken away in vehicles for the campaing of the government. students those who lead the unions support their interested political party think they can ensure their job by creating problems and showing their good support. some fights are instigated by them and the blame is put on JVP later.

Mr. Anura. Please listen to me for a while. JVP is trying to kill three birds with one stome. Those are University education, Government effert of development and Youth leadership of tomorrow. The private universities are essencial for the country those who not selected to the universities to have higher education.
