This should have been done since inception of Int Schools, when this children enter the society don t know what will happen
sns Monday, 01 November 2010 03:51 PM
this must have been done when the first int 'school was open in the country.it s good at least now the need has been recognised.better if they can include schools like........, where girl commited suiside recently where the education ministry had to say that they can not interfere due to that being private school, be in government, private , international or what ever, those who study there are our children, so this is good
dsr-neckar Monday, 01 November 2010 04:02 PM
Every corner of big cities has International Schools!! It’s funny! But there is no even a single student from overseas. This is another mess in Sri Lankan education. It is high time to regulate.
Bassa Monday, 01 November 2010 04:43 PM
Im sure first to be 'regulated' will be Mohan Lal Grero's school
wijendra Monday, 01 November 2010 04:49 PM
These are education ministers. They look into those matters

dpl Tuesday, 02 November 2010 02:53 AM

sltk2004 Tuesday, 02 November 2010 04:05 AM
You mean bringing them down to the level of government schools ?
kevin Tuesday, 02 November 2010 04:20 AM
Why don"t you monitor National school before monitoring international schools. We are unable to set a correct question paper.... no teachers.....higher rate of exam failures..
Hussain Tuesday, 02 November 2010 06:04 AM
One of the boys National Schools in Colombo 12 strugling without 25 teacher shortages. Mr. Minister why don't you look into this serious matter b4 looking into Intl schools.
kali p Tuesday, 02 November 2010 04:12 PM
not even a single overseas student? I studied at Gateway and I can tell you that there are plenty of foreign students in the 'proper' international schools...
Himalie Wednesday, 03 November 2010 03:19 AM
I totally agree with the comment of Hussain. Mr Minister first you have to consider the standards of the government schools. some schools have only 10 or 20 students and they do not have any facilities at all. but when it comes to school admissions you deduct 5 points for these schools as well as for the National schools which have lot of facilities.
malkanthi Monday, 01 November 2010 10:26 AM
Some of the leading ladies and boys private schools' , and the international schools decipline is Nil. Comparatively government school is ok.

Musthafa Monday, 01 November 2010 09:59 AM
All International schools are just like "Education Shop" to money making. GOSL must look all matter related with international schools, Culture, religion, and enviroment, The curriculum and system must be monitored by the Ministry of Education, Its good move but too late. Also all The Islamic private Madrasa Must be provided unic curriculam by the Goverment approved Sura Council to bring peace amond Mulims and avoid groupings.

I think its better to check the standard of the government schools first. Majority of children are studying in government schools and its paramount that we ensure their standard before focusing on minority.

Aj Monday, 01 November 2010 12:09 PM
If my memory stands correct, I believe the reason for that is that the Education Act of this country does not permit 100% private schools
Fazeeha Nizam Monday, 01 November 2010 12:21 PM
There was a similar move by Dr Tara de Mel under the presidency of Mrs Kumaratunge. Some schools paid a fee of Rs. 5,000/ and registered. What happened to that?
Oyage Podi Guru Monday, 01 November 2010 12:43 PM
There are only two legitimate international schools on this island: the British School and the Overseas School of Colombo. The rest just use the name.
S Cynic Monday, 01 November 2010 12:47 PM
Will it be something like the move to regulate the private buses? with much ado and nil result
sw Monday, 01 November 2010 02:12 PM
The first thing Bandula G will do is to set up a mechanism for periodic revision of School Fees. The schools which charge low fess will be asked to increase their fees in line with others or they will be shut down.
