Kindelpitiya refused bail

The Colombo Additional Magistrate Ms. Kumari Abeyratne today refused bail for journalist and former UNP candidate Susil Kumara Kindelpitiya and further remanded him together with two others over allegations of abducting a woman and possessing an illegal weapon.

The Magistrate rejected the bail application submitted by the suspect’s counsel since the court does not have jurisdiction to grant bail to the suspects without identifying the weapon.

The complainant in her complaint alleged that on March 3rd while she was waiting to go home after office at a bus stand she was abducted assaulted and locked up in a room and held there till 02 April.

This is the result for bing an opposition candidate.If Susil was a Govt. candidate he would have been given STF Protection. So anything can happen in the Banana republic

I dont think a journalist would do such things. Maybe a set up. Bad luck mate that the magistrate is a lady. So its difficult.

I quite agree with what Ramzeel and I Hussein has said. If only Kindelpitiya was a govt. party candidate, picture would have been different today. This is the state of affairs in this blessed isle.

Hell of a how do you do. Police hide the weapon or there is actually no weapon - so he does not get bail. If he ""possessed"" the weapon how can they not produce it ? A real Catch 22 situ.
