Dr. Guruge passes away

Dr. Ananda W. P. Guruge, who is a Buddhist intellectual, an author and a renowned social worker passed away at the age of 87.

Dr. Guruge,a former ambassador is reported to have passed away while on a flight to the US after lecturing at an Australian University.

His funeral will be held on Sunday at Westminster. Dr. Gurugehad also translated the ‘Mahawamsa’ into English.

Dear Dr., You were instrumental in obtaining a good position at Unesco in the Education Sector which paved the way for me to develop my skills which I can never forget and indeed I am really grateful to you. You have also done yeoman service to the Sri Lankan community in France and we were really proud of you. We have lost a great Sri Lankan Scholar. May you Rest in Peace.

My Teacher an exceellent example what a teacher should be. Eurudite, an exemplay exponent if Sinhala, English, Pali and Sanskrit in addition to being a versatile in other European
Languages. A Buddhist Scholar par excellene.Above all a Teacher with a truly human heart anda Practising Buddhist.
He will definitely end the sansaric journeys and attain Nirvana, i this very life.
