University is the time, whilst studying, for discussions, politics, dissent. This is the same worldwide. You pontificate on many things and then you pass out and start living the 9 - 5 life. Putting up posters all over should not be done. An example should be set by the Govt. followed by all the Tuition masters and companies selling products.
Suppression by illegal and legal means is a recipe for disaster. Parents should step in and gather moderate religious and civil society people to intervene to bring sanity to the situation. The people ruling this country needs counselling more than the students!

May be the same reason why politcians paste posters everywhere during the election times....! These politcians wouldn't have given free education.

This is truth. At least to understand the truth they should have an education. People see only Uni problem but not the wasting of public money.

With succession of incompetent ministers handling the portfolio the current situation is the natural outcome.

Best course of action for these rogue students is to slap them with Uni fees. They will then think twice before doing such stupid acts.

JVP,JVP,JVP,JVP,JVP for everything JVP behind. What nonsencese. Mind U not only in SL, students do protests in almost all the countries when they have problems. Is the JVP behind in all those protests. In our universities there were such protests even prior to JVP inception.
People will soon get fed up with this monotonous allegation.
No one can evade real concerns of students just by belittling those protests as JVP acts.

Yes, that is the goal of the Govt. to crush the public edu through the police state measures. Its time for workers and professionals to come forward to protect the limited ways available for ordinary folks' right of expression.

I am sure most of these comments are from people who haven't even seen a university hence they make such comments.
Manage to read and write few lines in English does not mean there comments make any sense.

Who's gonna arrest people who ruin all the walls with posters of the government? Most of the walls are covered with those actually.

It is clearly undemocratic to ban this when every nook and corner of the country was polluted with posters during the elections. You did not think of cleanliness then, and why only now?

Agree, I have seen in some places the cow eating posters whats left hanging on the wall.... perhaps may be the paste was made out of 'punnakku'..... Yes, ban all type of posters, erect boards, where posters can be pasted - these boards will be used only for this purpose - stray cows will also stay away.... We don't need to dirty the walls every where, we don't need to slaughter the cows that walk all over the street........
