Armed schoolboy arrested

A 16-year-old school boy was taken into custody by the Galewela Police for allegedly being in possession of a locally manufactured revolver. The youth was carrying the revolver to be sold for an amount of Rs.4500, the police said.He is to be produced before the Dambulla Magistrate today. (Sanath Desmond)

Even if we nip the bud we will not solve the problem this child is tool for some other persons gain please get to the root of this issue and not penalize an innocent kid. If at all we should educate these children and protect these kids.

If Mervin can walk around with Guns , why not others. In Sri Lanka only the good guys are unarmed. all criminals are very well armed. I know a minister's son got down a machine pistil he was only 19 at that time.

In my point of view , in a country like Sri Lanka arresting under-age school goers should be banned by law as it may cause bad effects on such ones future . there must be another way to deal with unlawful acts like this. However , torturing is a tactic practice as the easy way by badly trained un-clever police men but never in UK or USA.

Something is wrong with the society he is living in. May be he is a son of a poor family. We must punish the wrong doing people in this society. Anyway we must rehabilitate these youngsters. By putting them to the jail is not going to solve the problem, only aggravate. We all know why. So I think solution is let these kids/ youth get some education & deciplene in the rehabiltation centres (or some kind prison) where no chance of associating adult kirimanals.
