Scheduled water cuts continue in Colombo district

Colombo, April 4 (Daily Mirror)- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB) announced that the scheduled water cuts affecting several areas in the Colombo District due to prevailing dry weather conditions will continue today (April 04).

In a statement, the Board said that, following requests from consumers, the duration of the planned water suspension has been reduced from 24 hours to 18 hours.

Accordingly, water supply to several areas will be restricted intermittently on a scheduled basis until April 10.

The affected areas include Padukka, Homagama, Palanwatta, and Pannipitiya.

Under the implementation schedule, water supply in Padukka was suspended from 8:00 p.m. on April 02 until 2:00 p.m. on April 03. In Homagama, the 18-hour water cut commenced at 8:00 p.m. yesterday (03) and will continue until 2:00 p.m. today (04). Meanwhile, a similar 18-hour suspension is scheduled in Palanwatta from 8:00 p.m. today (04) until 2:00 p.m. tomorrow (05).

The NWSDB further noted that water cuts in Padukka, Homagama, and Palanwatta will be implemented once every three days.

In addition, a three-hour water suspension from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. will be imposed every other day in Battaramulla, Pamankada, Wellawatta, and Nawala.

The Board said arrangements have been made to ensure uninterrupted water supply on days when no scheduled cuts are in effect.
