Colombo, April 22 (Daily Mirror) - A new initiative by Save a Life is helping enhance the safety of stray dogs while promoting peaceful coexistence between humans and animals.
The programme, titled HARMONY – Human Animal Relations & Mitigation for a Nature-friendly Yard, has introduced reflective collars for street dogs in selected areas. The collars are designed to increase the animals’ visibility at night, enabling motorists to spot them from a distance and reduce the risk of road accidents.
Organisers say the initiative highlights how unmanaged systems can contribute to safety risks and underscores the importance of simple, practical solutions to prevent injuries and save lives.
Save a Life plans to expand the programme to more communities in the future as part of its broader efforts to improve animal welfare and public safety.
