Namal takes Sunil Watagala to task over defamatory remarks, sends letter of demand

Colombo, Sep 10 (Daily Mirror) - Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) National Organiser MP Namal Rajapaksa is to take legal action against Deputy Minister Sunil Watagala over his remark saying 'Namal behind drug menace'.

SLPP MP D.V. Chanaka told Parliament that Namak Rajapaksa has sent a letter of demand to Watagala as the initial step in the litigation process.

He challenged any ruling party MP to make such defamatory remarks outside Parliament if possible.

"In Parliament, you say whatever you want as you have legal cover under Parliamentary privileges. I am asking you to do the same outside and face the repercussions," he said.

Not a good thing to tell lies under the cover of parliamentary privileges. Happens very regularly. Wonder any possibility of removing it.

I donot condone Waragala. I have seen these letters of demands being sent often but matters hardly ends up in court.m If they ever go to court they never end up in a hearing but settled. None of these plaintiffs go with clean hands so they fear to face cross examination by the defence counsel. When one has skeletons in the cupboard how can they face cross examination. Namal will be one with may skeletons in his cupboard

That picture was not fake or modified one, it is available in public domains. Namal is just trying to washaway the black mark by sending this and giving large publicity through media.

People gave a huge approval to this government in the election mostly because the total frustration and hatred they felt over people like Namal. But now morons like this guy, Iceland Bimal and few others with their idiotic comments keep the door open for the likes of Namal for a Philippines Marcos like return.
