Sri Lanka's chase of 278 got off to a positive start as openers Niroshan Dickwella and Avishka Fernando walked out to the middle. 

Dickwella got the innings underway in style, guiding the first ball from Anshul Kamboj to the fine-leg boundary before rotating the strike, while Avishka also opened his account with a single.

At the innings break in the first unofficial ODI between Sri Lanka A and India A in Dambulla, India A posted a competitive 277/6 in their 50 overs after being sent in to bat.

Despite an early setback with teenage opener Vaibhav Sooryavanshi dismissed for 14 off 12 balls, India rebuilt their innings through a composed century from captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Gaikwad anchored the innings with a fluent 101 off 114 deliveries, striking six fours and three sixes, while the middle order provided valuable support to propel India close to the 280-run mark. For Sri Lanka A, Mohamed Shiraz was the standout bowler, claiming 2 wickets for 67 runs from his 9 overs.
