Immigration nabs 34 overstaying Bangladeshi nationals from Seeduwa

Colombo, May 8 (Daily Mirror) - A group of over 30 Bangladeshi nationals who were overstaying their tourist visas was taken into custody by the Department of Immigration and Emigration officials who raided a guesthouse in Seeduwa this afternoon.

The group of male foreigners who had arrived in Sri Lanka in February and March on a 30-day tourist visa had illegally exceeded their stay in the country.

The authorities will take immediate measures to send the group back to Dhaka, the departmental sources said.

These scammers and or dishonest scum should have been fined and thrown behind bars until fine was paid and or deported with ban on entering the country. The Govt needs to have harsh penalties on such so called tourists, we do not need more dishonest scum when we have plenty of them in house.

This is only 30 odd Bangladeshis overstaying their tourist visas. What about hundreds on Russian and Israyalis who overstay their tourist visas? Not only they overstay, they are illegally doing business and also hares the locals. Seems the government unable to send them back.

One hopes the Immigration Authoritues and Police exercise the same enthusiasm in rounding up dozens if not hundreds of white absconders from Europe and Australia who operate numerous Sales outlets around Boosa with impunity - ice cream sellers, beer and tobacco stall holders, taxi drivers and of course drug dealers. Without that the Bangladeshi arrests look more like a mere window dressing.
