Illicit liquor brewer remanded for forcing children to drink arrack

An illicit liquor brewer who forced two underaged boys to drink alcoholic beverage, was arrested by Oyamaduwa police during a raid on the banks of Oyamaduwa tank.

Police said the two children were of ten and five years of age were found doped with fumes of arrack, police rushed to the scene upon a tip off received through the Police Emergency Service 119.

The two children were admitted to Anuradhapura teaching hospital and the 25 year-old suspect was remanded till October 11 after being produced in court. (Dayarathne Embogama)
