Colombo, April 22 (Daily Mirror) - The government has approved the procurement of 800,000 bags of peritoneal dialysis solutions used in the treatment of patients suffering from chronic kidney failure, on the recommendation of the Health and Mass Media Minister.
Peritoneal dialysis solutions, which are essential for hemodialysis treatment, will be supplied through an international competitive bidding process. Accordingly, bids were invited for the procurement, and two bids were received.
Based on the recommendation of the Higher Level Procurement Committee, the Cabinet approved awarding the contract to the substantially responsive lowest bidder, Infuxion Lanka (Private) Limited, whose manufacturer is Peritone Health SDN BHD of Malaysia.
Under the agreement, the company will supply 800,000 units of 2-litre peritoneal dialysis solution bags containing 1.5% dextrose with a calcium concentration of 1.25 mmol/L (2.5 mEq/L), equipped with an integrated asymmetrical Y-set and blue clamp, at a unit price of Rs. 1,112.
The total cost of the procurement amounts to Rs. 889.6 million, and the supplies will be delivered to the Medical Supplies Division.
