Global spike pushes local gold prices up



Colombo, Nov. 25 (Daily Mirror) - Gold prices in Sri Lanka witnessed a significant rise today (25), in line with a sharp increase in global gold rates.

According to market data, the global price of gold has climbed by USD 4,150, prompting a notable price hike locally.

Traders in the Colombo Pettah gold market said the price of a 22-carat gold sovereign, which stood at Rs. 303,600 yesterday, has risen by Rs. 6,000 to Rs. 309,200 this morning.

Meanwhile, the price of a 24-carat gold sovereign has also increased, moving from Rs. 330,000 yesterday to Rs. 336,000 today.
