Debate on 22A gets underway in Parliament
The debate on the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution commenced in Parliament a short while ago.
The debate is scheduled to be held today and tomorrow and the vote is to be taken up tomorrow evening.
Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa told Parliament that the Samagi Jana Balawegaya would extend their support unless any hidden amendments were brought in during the Committee stage.
He stressed that the clauses pertaining to dual citizenship and President's Power to dissolve Parliament after two and half years should be in tact.(Ajith Siriwardana and Yohan Perera)
