Court calls for investigation report against Diana Gamage on passport issue

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court today issued an order directing the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to submit a report regarding the investigations against State Minister Diana Gamage over a complaint that she had obtained a Sri Lankan passport after furnishing false information to the Controller General of Immigration and Emigration.

The Court ordered the CID to submit this report on November 10. (Lakmal Sooriyagoda)

If you are a true Srilankan passport holder it will take at least 6 weeks to process your USA visa. She was planning to leave to USA without visa since she is a British citizen. While booking tickets, complaints to CID began .

She would have lost SL citizenship when she acquired UK citizenship. She could have retained by paying fees and getting a SL citizenship certificate or getting one later. If not it becomes a fraud to apply for SL passport.

Why complicate things?. The immigration department has the details of all persons who were issued dual citizenship in their digital system. Check all the MP's names. As simple as that.
