Leader of the House Dinesh Gunawardene has said that an exorbitant amount of funds incur to conduct Parliamentary sessions. He said a sum of Rs 100,000 being spent for every minute of the sessions.
Mr. Gunawardene made this comment referring to heated arguments between the opposition and the government MPs yesterday.
“Opposition MPs are wasting time by repeating the same allegation over and over. This is an utter waste of time and money. They should realise that Rs.100,000 belonging to people in this country is spent for every minute of the Parliamentary sessions. This waste of funds should be stopped.
Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene also requested the MPs not to waste time and money. “You have wasted 40 minutes for unwanted arguments instead of getting on with the debate fixed for the day,” he said.
Following the comments made by the Speaker and Leader of the House, yesterday’s argument alone cost four million to the nation. (Yohan Perera and Ajith Siriwardana)

This is not the only way you waste public funds. If you are capable of thinking you will find how and where money is wasted in addition.

When SLPP MPs behave like thugs, Dinesh should have the guts to control them first! We saw what they did during 52 days illegal rule.

Opportunity for the truth to be spoken without being barked upon must be provided.. There needs to be a check and balance and modality of account giving..
