Chandrika denies joining legal action over Presidents’ Entitlements Act repeal

Colombo, August 12 (Daily Mirror) - Former President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga has dismissed media reports claiming she joined other ex-presidents in challenging the repeal of the Presidents’ Entitlements Act.

In a statement issued by her media unit, Kumaratunga said some outlets had incorrectly reported that she was among four former presidents filing a case against the repeal.

The statement stressed the reports were “completely false” and confirmed that she has not taken part in any such legal action.

Chandirika is one of the few Presidents who I felt wasn't greedy for money. Each and every President since has been bad and focus on money for themselves and their family members to the detriment of the country.

I still dont know why Victor Iewan wrote a book of her naming Chaura Rajina. He forgot and failed in his duty towards the country for not writing a book of robber barron Mahinda Rajapaksha with the name LOKA Hora.

Comparatively good family politics we have had from Bandarnayake family : I still remember when the Chinese delegation came to Sri Lanka for an official visit in 1974, the late PM Srima spent her own money for Chinese delegation who wanted to visit NUWARA ELIYA instead of spending the public money in that difficult time she spent her own money instead : I don’t know about CBK but for sure they protected the public money unlike MR family, Ranil family, Ms family or RP family. Comparatively CBK family is good in spending the public money : this is a comparison nothing else . We should tell the truth even if it comes from our political adversary.

But she hasn't rejected the move. Anyhow whatever the outcome her children can take care of her. Presidents or other worthy reps.. deserve a pension but not extensive security, staff for news reading plus other senseless perks or privileges.

Those past Presidents who oppose the repeal of the Act are parasites who wish to live on the public purse. For that matter most of the politicians are parasites and we see only a few honest honourable ones

One thing clear by this is that however powerful MR, Sirisena and RW were they couldn't ever buy `class`. RW tried hard, by hiring high-end Butler services and trying to act like a polished Gentleman but in the end proved that he is not even close. MR and Sirisena simply don't care about class or ethnics because its like Greek to them in their level of society. We may not like CBK nor her ways, but in this, she is way above the rest as she was born with it.

As a person she is a cut above the rest, but her 11 years in office was a wasted opportunity. I think there was a SC ruling some years ago that she had to vacate the palatial home that she’s been living in for over two decades at the taxpayers expense.
