12% of the Govt. teachers unable to teach

President Maithripala Sirisena said the education authorities had informed him that 10% to 12% of the 350,000 teacher population in the national education system did not have the ability or experience to teach a single subject or even to train students at least in extracurricular activities.

After playing several “deleted” phone recordings of Perpetual Treasuries Ltd (PTL) before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) today, Additional Solicitor General Yasantha Kodagoda said that now it was evident that PTL owner Arjun Aloysius had received price sensitive inside information before the March 29, 2016 bond auction.
