There are forces at work to see this happen. The hands behind the disruption of work are one of them. They are utterly desperate to ensure that a quick recovery does not materialise. The public should see through their schemes to extend the people's hardship for narrow political gains.

Wonder what the Ministers who bragged about the prudent policies, when the LKR was appreciating have to say now? Put the blame on CBSL and traders.

Govt. Ministers and politicians who know nothing about economics, went to town trying to prove the rupee was strong. Now they will say that there is a hidden hand behind its depreciation. Kumantharanayak.

Exporters are wanting 500 to USD rate Wednesday, 15 March 2023 03:07 PM

Currently many employees in export industry are wanting pay rise for inflation. Only way to provide for that is by increasing revenue, that can only really happen for exports when USD rises. Easily 10% pay rise this year can be given if rupee becomes 500 plus to USD by end of year. Tourist industry also desperate for USD rise, as more tourist come.

If the Rupee is started strengthening, then it would be a good impact for all in Sri Lankans but the government should start re purchasing the Rupees it has printed previously since the new taxations will have an impact of lower circulation in general. Depreciating the value will have an opposite effect and push up the inflation again. Not an ideal situation at this difficult time.

Rupee will continue to fall. Rupee does not have any strong fundamentals to appreciate.
