A female government officer in Padavi, Sripura was allegedly threatened by her ex-lover, who warned to release her nude photos to her husband if she did not pay him the ransom he demanded, police said.

The suspect had also threatened that he would publish the pictures online to shame the government officer if the monies were not transferred to him.

The Sripura police said the woman had filed a complaint in this regard.

In her complaint, the victim said that since 2019, the woman had been forced to deposit more than Rs. 2.6 million into the bank account of the suspect.

The woman had an affair with the suspect who is a resident of Kuliyapitiya a few years ago, and he had clicked her nude photos during their relationship.

Since the affair ended, she said the suspect had been blackmailing her by demanding money to avoid leaking her nude photos to her husband and publish it online.

Investigations are underway to arrest the suspect who is believed to have gone into hiding, police said. (DSB)

These are so called village women who claim they have much higher values, self controlled and modest. But many of them will allow their naked bodies to be filmed. Typical baiyos.

This kind of complaint must be given good publicity without the name of victim or the town she come from, so that it will be a good eye opener/warning for the young girls

Religion or race has nothing to do with this.

Obviously I’m an aethist Monday, 13 March 2023 07:24 PM

What has religion got to do with this? This shows people CANNOT separate and understand an issue without dragging religion into it. I just returned after visiting SL and I’m appalled by people’s obsession with religion.

I think the government should make a law (if the existing ones does not apply)to prevent such threats publishing on social media. We have seen unnecessary suicides in the past and the culprits should be punished heavily in order for others to learn lessons

2.6 Million Contribution by an individual to a non-performing HUSBAND "who would have been" Consider, yourself lucky, it is beyond belief, what life would have been, you remained in the relationship!? Thank your STARS and GOOD LUCK, you escaped further misery as Wife, if you had continued with this VILLAINOUS CREATURE! The first move by the offender in making the request, you should have informed your husband and the Law enforcement to rectify the situation, would have possibly save 2.6 million payment!!??

The correct step for her was to have informed her husband. Sometimes it wud hv backfired n she wud be not living with her hubby now. The worst case wud been if the couple have had children who wud have faced difficult situation if the pics were published. However, it was a brave deed of the woman to have reported to the police. The culprit should be made to walk naked in the streets, also subject thrashing by women to teach other such bastards a lesson

This is Sri Lankan male practice where ever they live. Two Sri Lankan students were convicted in Australia last month - one jump out of the country and other in jail.
