The Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) said today it was dangerous to go for an election under a government which obtained power through unconstitutional means and stressed the need to rectify the present political crisis before going for a national election.
JVP General Secretary Tilvin Silva told a news conference that the approval of a two-thirds majority in parliament should be obtained after rectifying this unconstitutional political coup before announcing an election.
“It is dangerous if someone goes for an election after obtaining power through unconstitutional means. If an election was announced under this unconstitutional government, it will be clearly construed as a part of this political coup," he said. (Ajith Siriwardana)

If the government obtained power through unconstitutional means , why don't you file a case in supreme courts ?
kumar Friday, 09 November 2018 08:53 PM
Intention of the legislature is very clear ie, the President cannot remove the PM nor dissolve the Parliament before 41/2 years. The Courts have no jurisdiction to meddle or muddle when the intention is clear. The courts have acted like puppets and they are no longer independent. In turn they bully the public with contempt action.

IF NOT DO YOU LIKE TO HAVE ELECTIONS UNDER UNP.?JVP WHY SCARED? FINALLY IT IS ELECTIONS THAT MATTERS TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEMS.

No one can trust a dictatorial, corrupt and an undemocratic Government to hold a fair election. Sovereignty of the citizen has to be exercised first by its elected representatives. It is not the case of MR or RW but violation of trust mandate

Then why did you support previous government to postpone elections through dodgy means ?
Sanath Friday, 09 November 2018 04:46 PM
Compared with other political parties, JVP is more diciplined.

Election will be under supervision of Election Commission. not the purview of government. JVP now become jokers of the island.

Both the UPFA and UNP are slimy (the former more slimy than the latter). At least the JVP has developed a moral backbone much needed in this country.
