Jumbos attempt to drive away residents

A herd of five elephants that entered the Divul Wewa village in Suriyawewa, Hambantota on Tuesday afternoon, attempted to drive away the residents causing them fear. The attempts taken by the Suriyawewa Police personnel and wildlife officers with the assistance of the residents were futile. However, wildlife officers said the herd had left for the Madunagala National Park.
