2015 Dialog Cricket of the Year Angelo Mathews yesterday gave a huge pat on the back of his employer Sri Lanka Cricket and sponsor Dialog Axiata for organizing the Cricket Awards to recognize and appreciate the contribution of cricketers to the game.
Mathews was speaking to the press at the launch of the 2016 edition of the Dialog Sri Lanka Cricket Awards held at Jaic Hilton last evening.
“Appreciating and recognizing is important. I am grateful for all those involved in organizing this event to recognize players' contribution,” Mathews commented when asked what the Cricket Awards meant to players.
Mathews made a clean sweep of awards last year when he won both the Test Cricketer and ODI Cricketer of the Year awards in addition the coveted Cricketer of the Year award.
The 2016 Dialog Sri Lanka Cricket Awards powered by Dialog Axiata PLC, the premier telecommunication provider in the country, will be held on September 21, 2016 at Water’s Edge.
Among the main awards are Cricketer of the Year, People’s Players of the Year, Emerging Player of the Year and Women’s Cricketer of the Year. (Champika Fernando)
