Sunquick partnered with Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) to conduct the Mocktail competition, participated by the students of the Colombo Hotel School and provincial schools.

The contestants showcased the talents under two categories - Classical Innovative Mocktail and Flaring Mocktail. The uniqueness of the competition was that each and every competitor prepared the Mocktail with Sunquick as the base ingredient.

Describing the project as “a new learning process for Sunquick fans”, C.W. Mackie PLC Executive Director Mangala Perera said that the company was happy to partner with National Hotel School for projects at a time when the tourism industry is enjoying a massive growth, resulting from post-war optimism and increase in investor confidence and tourist arrivals.

“Sunquick is a global brand available in more than 120 countries worldwide, and is continuously, going through diverse learning processes on different applications of the brand. I am sure all the contestants of the Mocktail competition have come up with innovative recipes and multiple applications of the brand,” he added at the Final award ceremony at the National Hotel School Auditorium.

The first round of the competition was held at their respective provincial schools in mid-march over two days. In their 7 satellite schools, 32 students from each satellite hotel school were chosen and a total of 224 students from all over the island contested.

Food & Beverage (F&B) lecturers Indika Alwis and Kavinda Rankothdiwela conceptualized, trained and guided the students on modern trends with the assistance of the F&B faculty of the hotel school.
