Mihin Lanka recently launched daily flights to Chennai, Madurai, Muscat and Bahrain as a part of its ongoing strategy to provide affordable and convenient travel to the region.
Mihin Lanka’s commitment to provide daily flights is due to a sharp increase in demand for these destinations.

Mihin Lanka now offers direct flights to Chennai, the “Gateway to the South” which is a shopper’s paradise for bargain hunters who require both comfort and affordability. Madurai is another hot-spot for tourists and shoppers, providing a rich cultural experience amidst breath-taking architecture and heritage. The city also has spiritual significance with temples scattered throughout the city. The demand for frequent flights by tourists and business people alike has resulted in the operation of daily flights to Madurai.

With summer approaching in Oman, Omani’s often look to Sri Lanka for the perfect beach getaway. The demand stemming from this peak season makes it the ideal time for the introduction of direct daily flights to Oman. Mihin Lanka will also be providing comfortable and affordable flights on a daily basis to Bahrain. These increased frequencies to Bahrain and Oman will help facilitate the locals to visit Sri Lanka during the upcoming summer vacation and help with the efforts to increase tourism into Sri Lanka. It will also provide Sri Lankan expatriates access to convenient travel choices to visit their friends and relatives during the holiday season.
Lal Perera - General Manager, Mihin Lanka commented on this expansion saying “We are honoured by the sheer volume of requests we received for additional flights to Chennai, Madurai, Muscat and Bahrain recently. In order to accommodate these requests and ensure that those who require travel to these destinations always have access to affordable and convenient flights, we decided to expand to daily operations to these four key destinations. We are hopeful that the introduction of daily flights to these destinations will contribute towards the growth of the local tourism industry by bringing more people from around the region to Sri Lanka. We are hopeful that the direct flight offering to both Muscat and Bahrain will further the mandate of Employment Agencies that provide opportunities to Sri Lankans looking to work in the Middle East”.
With the introduction of the Winter Schedule effective from March 2016, Mihin Lanka will also offer increased flights to the Maldives, from three to five a week.
