Accolades for Sri Lanka Tourism in China

The Sri Lanka Tourism pavilion was adjudged the Best Designed Pavilion and Sri Lanka Tourism secured the Most Popular Destination Award at China Xian Silk Road International Tourism Expo (CXSRITE) 2016,

which was held recently at Xian Qujiang International Conference and Exhibition Centre in Xian, China. Sri Lanka was represented at this expo by Sri Lanka Tourism Chairman Paddy Withana and Sri Lanka Tourism Assistant Director Chinthaka Liyanarachchi. Sri Lanka Tourism also organised a roadshow at the Wyndham Grand Hotel with the participation of leading travel agents and media representatives in the Shanxi Province in preparation for CXSRITE 2016. China is the second largest outbound travel market for Sri Lanka and Xian is one of the top sourcing cities in China.

CXSRITE 2016 is Xian’s leading travel and trade exhibition. There were 132,842 Chinese tourist arrivals recorded during the first two quarters in 2016 while the target for the year is 300,000 Chinese visitors. Sri Lanka Tourism attended the Beijing International Tourism Expo (BITE) in May with over 40 travel companies and Guangzhou International Travel Fair (GITF) 2016 in February with another 40 companies. Sri Lanka Tourism is expected to attend CITM in Shanghai and CITE in Chengdu, China later this year.
