Market ends on a mixed note

The Colombo equity market ended on a mixed note today with MPI ending in the positive zone. API closed at 5,418.07, down 5.19 points (-0.10%) while sensitive MPI settled at 4,822.31, up 18.80 (+0.39%). Market turnover was registered at Rs.1.2bn.
 
Aviva NDB Plc emerged as the highest contributor to the daily turnover (Rs.304.8mn) along with Orient Garment Plc (Rs.255.2mn) and PC Pharma Plc (Rs.219.9mn). Aviva NDB Plc registered a crossing of 1.5mn shares at a price of Rs.203.00.
 
Active levels of trading were displayed on counters such as John Keells Holdings Plc, Blue Diamond Plc and Softlogic Holdings Plc.
 
Foreign participation stood at 5.3% of the total market activity and at the end of the day foreign investors were the net buyers with a net foreign inflow of Rs.71.mn.
