U-19 Cricket Tourney Navod creates new schools batting record

Mahinda College Skipper Navod Paranavithana created a new Under-19 Inter-Schools batting record when he slammed a swashbuckling 409 runs in their drawn fixture against Dharmasoka MV, Ambalangoda which concluded at Galle yesterday.


Navod’s knock eclipsed the previous record of 350 runs made by Avishka Tharindu of St. Anthony’s College, Wattala last month. 


The Sri Lanka Youth player also became the first schoolboy to score over 400 runs in an inter-schools cricket match.


Navod’s mammoth knock came off just 327 balls which comprised 39 boundaries and 19 sixes as Mahinda in reply to Dharmasoka MV’s 185, went on to amass 678 in 132 overs.
