Thisara, Dickwella get ODI recall for WI Series

Thisara Perera and Niroshan Dickwella have returned to Sri Lanka’s 15-man Squad for the upcoming three-match ODI Series against the West Indies starting on Saturday.
Perera’s last international appearance came when Sri Lanka hosted Bangladesh in an ODI Series in July 2019.
Dickwella, meanwhile, hasn’t played an ODI in nearly a year, having been left out of the World Cup 2019 Squad.

However, Dickwella might have to wait till the second match of the series to make his ODI return, as he is down with fever.
Kusal Perera would likely take over the wicket-keeping duties should Dickwella not recover in time.

Meanwhile, Danushka Gunathilaka, the left-hand opener, was missing from the squad after injuring his back while Oshada Fernando was also sidelined with a hand injury.
Shehan Jayasuriya, the batting all-rounder, was included while Isuru Udana retained his spot after recovering from his back injury.

“Danushka has a back injury and has been ruled out of the West Indies series,” Ashantha de Mel, the Team Manager and Chief Selector, said yesterday.
“He is under treatment and may require surgery. Niroshan’s case is not all that serious and we have retained him in the ODI Squad and hope to play him in the second match onwards.”
