Suresh and Nethmi to lead wrestling team at Commonwealth Games

Experienced wrestlers Suresh Fernando and Nethmi Ahinsa have been appointed captain of the men’s and women’s wrestling teams respectively for the Commonwealth Games wrestling, according to the Sri Lanka Wrestling Federation (SLWF).  


Suranga and Nethmi have won medals at the SAG (South Asian Games) and represented Sri Lanka in many international competitions, said SLWF President Sarath Hewavitharana.  


Two men and four women wrestlers have been selected to represent Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games.  
Three of the wrestlers - Nethmi Ahinsa, Chamodya Keshani and Niroshini Gamage are undergoing training in Hungary and will go to Birmingham directly.  

Sri Lanka Commonwealth wrestling squad:  


Men- Suranga Fernando (86kg), Sineth Chathuranga (74kg)  
Women- Nethmi Ahinsa (57kg), Niroshie Gamage (50kg), Hasini Silva (62kg), Chamodya Keshani (53kg)  
Coach- Suranga Kumara  
Manager- Sarath Hewavitharana
