SLC clarifies who attended ICC meeting

Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) yesterday clarified that only its President, Shammi Silva, had attended the International Cricket Council (ICC) Board Meetings, contrary to a media release it issued on Sunday.

On Sunday, SLC, in a release titled “Sri Lanka Cricket Secures US$ 11.5 million of ICC Funds”, had said: “The funds were released after SLC President Shammi Silva, Immediate Past President Thilanga Sumathipala and the SLC Secretary Mohan De Silva took part in the ICC Board Meetings and also held high level discussions with the ICC Officials on the matter,” intimating that the former President and the Secretary had also participated in the ICC Board Meeting.

However, it has emerged that this was not the reality in a subsequent version by SLC itself and it gives rise to a question as to how a responsible organization like SLC could make a mistake of this nature.

Yesterday’s release also said: “A series of other discussions SLC held with the ICC officials were attended by the Immediate Past President Thilanga Sumathipala and Secretary Mohan
De Silva.”
