SL Netball Squad leaves for Botswana

The Sri Lanka Netball Squad left for Botswana yesterday to participate in a series of international matches over the next few weeks.  


Sri Lanka are scheduled to take on the Botswana National Team in three games and thereafter, they will also play against the Botswana Youth Squad in three matches.


This tour has been arranged as a preparation for the World Netball Championships which will be staged from July 12 to 21 in Liverpool, England.


Sri Lanka are currently placed 19th in the World Netball Rankings while Botswana are placed in the 23rd position.


All air tickets for the players and other officials for this tour were sponsored by Sajith Premadasa, Minister of Housing Construction and Cultural Affairs.


The Sri Lanka Netball Squad: Chathurangi Jayasuriya (Captain - Air Force SC), Gayani Dissanayake (Vice-Captain - HNB), Darshika Abeywickrama (HNB), Tharjini Sivalingam (Seylan Bank), Thilini Wattegedara (Air Force SC), Gayanjali Amarawansa (HNB), Deepika Priyadarshani (Navy SC), Hasitha Mendis (Navy SC), Dulangi Wannithilake (Navy SC), Nauchalee Rajapaksa (Army SC), Dulanga Dhananji (Air Force SC) and Elilenthini Sethukavalar (CDB).


Officials: Tilaka Jinadasa (Coach), Trixie Nanayakkara (Manager) and Pushpa Eluwawala (Assistant Manager).
