The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) will conduct their Annual Olympic Day Run to mark the International Olympic Day on June 25 in Matara.
The event will be worked off from Polhena to the Uyanwatta, Stadium in Matara, covering a distance of 4km.  The significant feature at this year’s event is that Sri Lanka’s sole surviving Olympic Medal holder Susanthika Jayasinghe will exhibit her Silver Medal in public for the benefit of school children in Matara.
The Chief Guest for the event would be Minister of Ports, Shipping and Southern Development Sagala Ratnayake while Jayasinghe would attend the event as guest of honour.
This year too, the NOCSL is expecting the participation of over 1,000 school children from schools adjacent to Marata.              (SP)
