Lectra GP Golf Tourney Indika takes lead with splendid feat

Veteran golfer J. M. D. Indika performed a splendid seven birdies and an eagle on the 17th to shoot a seven under-65 to take the lead on day two of the Lectra Grand Prix Golf Tournament 2019 May Edition which continued at the Catalina Golf Club Course in Koggala yesterday.


Indika, who was placed joint fifth on day one, ended the second-round with a score of 138 - one stroke ahead of Sri Lanka amateur champion M. U. Chanaka Perera and day one joint leader B. A. Sanjeewa.


Meanwhile, Sisira Kumara the other day one joint leader found it difficult to come into terms and slipped to joint fourth (141) along with N. Amarapadma.


They were followed by T. Jayaseelan (144), Sampath Kelum (145), Januka Dilshan (150), P. D. S. U. Kumara and N. Ranga (152), Roshana Prasad (153), Vinoth Lumar and Lamindu Rainika (154), G. Dilranga (155), R. Sureshan (156), S. S. Nanayakkara (159), Chanaka Rajapaksa, Chalitha Pushpika and Saman Rupasinghe (160).


With two more rounds for the decider and the leading five experienced players separated by just three strokes, an intense battle for supremacy is on the card. (MSA)
