A fine knock of 51 by Kasun Abeyratne and a three wicket haul by spinner Dunith Wellalage helped Lankan CC record a comfortable 59 runs win over the stronger SSC side and claim the Under 23 major club youth limited over tournament at the SSC ground yesterday.
Abeyratne’s knock came off 66 balls that included four boundaries and a six and he was involved in useful partnerships of 39 runs for the third wicket with Lahiru Dilshan and 76 runs for the fourth wicket with Kevin Perera who chipped in with 40 to help Lankan CC to make a modest score of 224 runs.
SSC in their chase were made to struggle for runs and were in a bad position of 90 for 5 at the halfway stage of the innings.
Despite a fighting knock of 50 coming from skipper Sammu Ashan, Lankan CC spearheaded by Dunith Wellalage and supported by Sawan Prabash, Yasiru Rodrigo and Sandun Sathsara bowled out SSC for a low score of 164 runs.
