Asian Sevens 2020 series which was to be hosted in China, South Korea and Sri Lanka was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

As per the original schedule, the three events were to take place in August/September 2020. Pertaining to the current situation, the Asia Rugby (AR) has cancelled all the shorter version games including the Under-20 Men’s and Women’s sevens for 2020. Thus only the top three between South Korea, Hong Kong and Malaysia plus the Division 1, Division 2 and Division 3 will take place along with the Under-19 event in the last three months during October to December.

Sri Lanka is scheduled to host the XV-a-side Division 1 during November/December this year while the Under-19 top four too will take place during December either in Kandy or Colombo.

Meanwhile Sri Lanka Rugby (SLR) looked disconnected when they named the squads for the Sevens (Men’s and Women’s) along with the XV-a-side events when AR had already decided to cancel this year’s sevens event.
