“Our sacrifice has gone down the drain”

A Red party member recalling the fortuitous circumstances in which ‘Kete’ became a Diyawanna member said his party got the legal right to nominate a successor to the Flame Chief when the latter was stripped of all his rights by a Court Martial.

“We at that time rejected the offer to nominate someone from our party on a matter of principle and asked the Flame party to nominate someone from their party to fill the vacancy that had arisen. That is how Kete came to be nominated,” he explained.

“What a pity!” he lamented. “‘Kete’ turned a renegade and our sacrifice went down the drain!”
